Monday 19th

Today was another fine day in Toronto.

Our group walk consisted of Riley, Sushi, Tea Cup, Jaida, Casey and our old friend Tony! Tony is going to be staying with us for a few days so we were getting re-acquainted before his visit.

We decided that since it was such a perfect day that we would hit Cherry Beach to enjoy the sunshine.

What a perfect day! Sun was out, water was calm, and the dogs were playing.

Riley and Jaida were off chasing each other around the park as soon as the leashes were off. Those two are inseparable. They both splashed around in the lake and Jaida had a blast trying to catch the waves as they rolled in. Riley loves to push buttons and kept working on Casey and Tea cup to get them to play.

Tea Cup did her best to get into the game but only when she was good and ready. Other than that she spent lots of time exploring and smelling everything. She also was really social and actually said hello to some of the dogs who came over to sniff her up. She is getting very brave the more she hangs out with us.

Sushi had a great time, she spent most of her time with me watching the dogs play. She loved to play on the beach and jump on the rocks. She also snuggled under a bench with a big husky doggie while we were talking to her owner. What a cutie.

Tony was a tad bit overwhelmed at the beginning of the outing with all the other dogs and the park but that passed very quickly. We didn’t let him go off leash today because Cherry Beach isn’t very secure and we wanted him to have a good time without getting into too much trouble to going off on a solo adventure. He got a kick out of watching the other dogs play and sniffing absolutely everything in the park.

Check out the good times we had:

We took the long way home up Yonge Street and Tony and Tea Cup had a great time watching the people walk by out the window while Jaida and Riley wrestled... of course.

Once everyone was home I went and picked up Belle for our afternoon walk.

We decided to go to Sherwood Park today and do some running around. It was very quiet in the park today we only saw a couple of dogs while we were there. Belle was in fine form and had a great time running around and zooming past me going mach 10 with her hair on fire.

She likes to play chicken.... run directly towards you and veer off at the very last second, laughing all the way. Silly girl!

At dinnertime we packed everyone up and headed to the park at the corner, since it was a nice night we saw everyone! It was a crazy busy night and the dogs had a great time catching up, running around and wrestling. It was great to see some old faces we haven’t seen in a while.

Finally this evening Henry went to visit Bobby to take him out for an evening pee break.

Let’s hope the weather holds up and we can enjoy more days like today! Talk to everyone tomorrow.

Tuesday 20th

Today was a nice day and we only had 1 walk so we headed to Sunnybrook (my favourite sunny fall day destination).

The group walk included Riley, Jaida, Pepper, Seamus, Casey, Sushi, Biggie, Missy and Tony (who is staying with us for a few days).

It was a perfect day and actually warm if not hot outside!

As soon as we hit the park we headed through the off leash area to the trails to play. Everyone was bounding around, the big kids were jumping in the water and the little ones were sniffing everything and running along behind.

Jaida was busy mixing and mingling with the other dogs in the park so we started off without here while Henry went to retrieve her and catch up.

Seamus, Pepper & Riley were the leaders of our little pack. The three of them tore up and down the path launching over tree trunks, gullies, rocks and mud puddles while the rest of us strolled along catching up.

Tony was on leash just in case he decided to take a run into the woods following a creature of some sort. Eventually I did let go of the leash and he joined in the Seamus, Pepper & Riley race.

Sushi spent a lot of time with Casey running and wrestling while Biggie waddled along behind and got rides from me when he needed a break.

Missy was a woman on a mission! She was miss independent strolling along by herself and going at her own pace.

When we were on our way back we met up with Jaida who got into the game and raced the rest of the group back to the park stopping to splash around a couple times along the way.

Everyone was good and muddy from their adventures.

In the park everyone strolled around visiting, chasing and mixing and mingling until it was time to head home.

We had a great outing and a great day, talk to everyone tomorrow.

Wednesday 21st

Today is a BUSY day! We have 3 walks and they are calling for rain!

The group walk included Riley, Tea Cup, Prince, Sushi, Biggie, Tony, Casey and a new dog to our group Molly. We decided to head to Winston Churchill so that we could get to know Molly in the security of a well fenced park.

When we got to the park it started to spit then turned into light rain... the worst kind of rain, not really rain and not really drizzle. Thank GOD for umbrellas!

Our newest pack member Molly is an adorable wheaten puppy who is full of energy and ready to play. She got along great with everyone in the group, she ran and chased Riley, she ran and chased a beagle that we met in the park. She was digging and playing and had a great time. She also hit it off with another dog walker who she loved and chummed around with for a good part of the outing.

Riley hit it off with the same beagle; they tore up the field running in circles. That dog really gave Riley a run for his money. Riley almost caught his tail but the dad was laughing that his dog wasn’t going at top speed; she still had 2 gears left to go. Good try Riley!

Prince mixed and mingled and stuck with me most of the time wandering around the park. There was another pug in the park and they were visiting and comparing “Life as a Pug” notes. It’s funny when I look at pictures; Prince is always taking care of the other pack members. He likes to keep his eyes open and make sure everyone is having a safe and happy time.

Tony did lots of running and chasing. He also did lots of singing... he has a lovely singing voice. I think he had a really great time playing and meeting the other dogs in the group. He got along well with Prince and Riley and took his turn in their chasing games.

Tea cup was so funny today; she was begging to be chased but was very selective who was going to chase her! Tony took her on a couple times and so did Riley. She always stayed one step ahead of them and laughed as she went.

Biggie and Sushi rode around in my coat for a majority of the outing; it was too wet for them to be running around so they got to have the luxury tour.

I grabbed a couple pictures of the group in play:

Next Henry took Belle to Sherwood to run around.
Finally this afternoon we had a “boy’s only” play date. I was allowed to come because... well.... because I’m allowed damn it!

The group consisted of Tony, Riley, Prince, Bobby and Bogart. Since we had to take Riley home we headed for Riverdale Park to run around. We were trying to beat the rain and we got lucky it didn’t start until we were on the way home.

When we got to the park the guys were off running.

Bobby was playing fetch... that is all he ever wants to do is play fetch.

We had Bogart on leash at the beginning of the outing but him and Riley really wanted to play so we let him go. Riley and Bogart were chasing each other in circles, running around like crazy doggies. They are a good play match.

Prince was doing his usual “playground monitoring” thing and helped to keep everyone together.

Tony was just having a great time being out and loved the second round of fresh air.

Everything was going swimmingly until Bogart decided to go on a bit of a “walk about”. After playing a game of doggie rodeo we finally caught up with him and headed out.

What a long day, now for the warmth of my bed!! Have a great night, will talk to everyone tomorrow.

Thursday 22nd

Today we had a busy day with 4 walks. The weather was also a total rollercoaster, bring on pneumonia!!!!

The group walk consisted of Riley, Tea Cup, Seamus, Tony and Casey. The kids stayed home today to take a break they’ve been really busy this week and it don’t want to wear them out. We headed for the Brick works since it was going to be a nice afternoon we wanted to take advantage of it.

When we got to the park we started out with our usual walk. I took the boys and Henry took the girls and we were off. It was so hot Henry and I were shedding layers around the paths, it was borderline humid. What a nice throw back to summer after the last cool rainy weeks.

Tony was excited to be out; he was sniffing everything and enjoying the bugs and critters along the paths.

Seamus was also a busy boy sniffing along the way and enjoying looking at the fall colours.

Riley was his usual self. We have to keep him away from the girls because all he does is play and flirt.

Tea Cup was with Henry so she was super happy... she loves Henry ;-)

When we hit the off leash area the fun began. There were a fair amount of dogs in the park today and all of us dog walkers were enjoying the beautiful weather.

When we were making the rounds we came across one of nature’s creatures... a tiny garter snake!!!!!!!!!!!!! I HATE SNAKES!! The dog walkers in front of me picked it up and put it through the fence to get it off the trail... I was running in the other direction begging the dogs to follow me.

I do realize that the snake won’t hurt the dogs and that the dogs would be more confused than anything at the sight of the snake but there was no way I wanted to see Casey running down the trail with a squiggly little bugger in her mouth YUUUCK!!!!!!

Well after that was done we continued making the rounds.

Seamus bounded around playing with some of the bigger dogs and keeping our little group of ruffians together. He loves to run run run and growl and bark along the way it is very entertaining.

Riley poked and prodded Tea cup & Tony trying to get them to run, they did do some chasing and running but without Jaida Riley it wasn’t the same ;-( poor guy. Ah he had a good time though can’t feel that bad for him!

Tea cup was off leash the whole time, when we first started coming here I had to keep her on leash or she would be over the fence and back at the car. Now she has a great time running with the group and actually visiting with the other dogs.

Tony stayed on leash for a majority of the session. The park is fenced and it’s a good fence but I wasn’t 100% comfortable letting him go until I was sure he was ready. Before we left I dropped the leash for the last couple rounds and he did great, no issues.

When we were making the rounds at the last bend there is a long straight-a-way before heading back to the beginning and starting again. Henry was sitting on a bolder half way back waiting for us to come around. Each time we got to the end I’d yell “Where’s Henry” and the kids would tear off down the path then jump on him and give him kisses as they ran by.

It was a fun afternoon, and we had the best weather of the day. I took some nature pictures because it was a perfect fall day:

Next Henry took Belle to Sunnybrook to run the trails. At this point the temperature was starting to go down and the rain was starting to fall. What a change from a couple hours before. Belle was her usual active self and as always had a great time running around jumping logs and dodging trees.

At the end of the day we split up, Henry walked Diva around the neighbourhood and I took Bogart, Jaida and Tony for a nice long walk. At this point it was FREEZING, spitting and windy! Who turned the heat off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My group had a great walk, everyone walked so well together. We worked our way up Yonge Street to Sporting Life, back down Yonge to Eglinton, across Eglinton to Redpath then started to do the drop offs.

It really wasn’t that bad when we were walking plus it stopped raining so I could leave the umbrella at Jaida’s house and pick it up on the way back, one less thing to carry.

It was a busy day but a good day. Talk to everyone tomorrow.

Friday 23rd

Today we only have 2 walks.

We had a small group walk today which consisted of Riley, Tony, Casey and Pepper. Since we were in Pepper’s neighbourhood we decided to go to the Taylor Massey Creek park to run around.

It was COLD and WET today definitely not the best day we’ve ever had.

Regardless of the weather the kids had a great time and the falling leaves looked so nice.

Pepper and Riley were off leash while Casey and Tony were latched on to me. I wasn’t prepared for Tony’s nose to take him off exploring and Casey always wanders off when we are down there so I didn’t want her to get too tired and messy.

Pepper was great; she never gets too far ahead and always makes sure the kids stay together.

Riley stayed with Pepper and bounded along through the grass like a deer and rolling in the leaves.

Tony and Casey didn’t have too much wiggle room but still played in the leaves and rolled in the dirt.

I grabbed some pictures, too bad it doesn’t do justice to the vibrant colours:

Everyone was good and dirty when it was time to go home. We had a great walk today but I believe the kids found something dead in the grass along the way and proceeded to roll in it. The car had the distinct smell of dead squirrel on the way home, mixed with wet dog... let’s just say I had to keep the windows down.

The only other walk today is with the lovely Diva then we’re done for the week.

Stay warm and dry everyone, talk to you tomorrow.

Weekend 24th, 25th

Saturday we wanted to stay ahead of the weather because it was always threatening to rain. We decided to leave the kids at home and take Casey, Tony, Bobby and Belle to Sunnybrook to play.

Belle, Casey, Tony and I headed down the trails but it was really muddy today because it had been raining on Friday. We didn’t go too far in before heading back to gather up Bobby and Henry. We had a good outing even though it wasn’t a terribly long one.

We didn’t do much the rest of the day it was really cool and windy so once we took the kids up to the local dog park for a quick hang out it was time to head home and cuddle for the rest of the night.

Sunday on the other hand was beautiful! We only had one walk with Diva today so in the afternoon we packed up the kids and headed to Winston Churchill to play and enjoy the sunshine.

The park was rather quiet and the kids weren’t too overly active so we hung out and visited with some of the other parents for a while then headed home to pick up Diva.

We decided to pack up the stroller and bring everyone along on the walk with Diva. Missy, Biggie and sometimes Sushi rode in the stroller while the rest of them strolled along. Diva was very interested in the stroller and kept sniffing Missy wondering why she got to go for a ride!

It was a perfect evening. The sun was out, it was reasonably warm and there were tones of people out and about enjoying the evening.

The park was busy so we ended up standing around talking to everyone while the dogs played. Diva was very interested in Molly and another puppy wrestling on the grass, she was being the referee to make sure they played by the rules.

Casey chased squirrels so she got put on leash arrest!!!!

Missy, Sushi and Biggie strolled around the park sniffing and playing along the way.

Tony went for a stroll to try and keep warm; we can’t let him off leash because he’ll follow Casey’s lead and chase the squirrels.

After a great afternoon of playing and visiting it was time to head home and bunker down for the night.

What a great weekend, it’s going to be another busy week! We’ll talk to everyone tomorrow.
