Monday 7th

Today was a much needed relaxing day with Animal Adventures. We’ve been go-go-go for the past couple weeks so I was happy to have a low key day.

In the morning I had my last visit with my new friend Pumpkin the parrot. Today went GREAT. She is finally starting to come around (of course she is it’s out last day).

When I got her out of the cage she was dancing and singing and happy to see me. To mix it up a bit today I put her on the bird stand by the kitchen table so that she could have a change of scenery. We sang songs and danced together she was a total angel.

Next I put her on the floor for a bit of a run around and was able to pick her up and get her back to the cage without incident.

When she was standing on the cage, we continued to play and dance and did some more “step ups”. I was even able to get her into the cage with no problems.

It was a great last day, parrot sitting was fun and different I’m glad they chose me to take care of their baby it was a great learning experience.

Next we had a play date with Riley. We headed down to Cherry beach to hang out for the afternoon. Casey and him ran around for a bit but then Casey was really tired (it was a long weekend for her too, she was pooped) so I needed to keep Riley occupied so he didn’t tease her to death ;-)

After hanging on the beach we decided to walk around the paths in the trees. The air show was on that afternoon so we had a couple planes fly over while we were sitting there, then when we were walking down the paths we found that there is a great view of the downtown area from the end of the park.

Lots of people had gathered to watch the planes fly around and we hung out for a bit to watch the show. After we had our fill of planes, we headed home so Casey could go to bed.

Lastly I had a dinner date with the lovely and talented Diva. Casey and I went over and met her then we went for a lovely stroll around the block. We ran into Bernie on the back lawn and Diva was excited to get brushed by Pat... she had LOTS of hair to be removed and loved the attention.

It was a great way to end a very relaxing afternoon.

Tuesday 8th

We have three walks today.

First off we had the group walk which included Jaida, Riley, Sake and Casey. We decided to go to the Winston Churchill off leash park to run around. There were a couple really nice Doberman puppies that the group was playing with and trying to teach them how to play fetch.

While we were there a few other dog walkers arrived and the kids had a great time running around and visiting with the new arrivals.

Jaida immediately went off with one of the other dog walkers and took a stroll around the park. Sake and Riley continued to wrestle and run around with the new dogs while Casey took some alone time under a shady tree and watched the kids play.

They had a great time and were all pretty quiet on the ride home which is always a sign that they had a fantastic time.

Next I went and picked up Belle for our afternoon bonding session. Today we went to Sherwood Park. We have gotten into our groove when walking together so we made quick work of getting to the wooded off leash area.

Today we decided to run through the off leash park rather than just the loop in the park. She was such a great girl! She would run along ahead of me then stop and look back to make sure she was ok. I would tell her to keep going and she would run along ahead.

She was never out of my sight and was always checking in. We meet up with a couple groups of dogs inside the park and she said hello to everyone and walked with them through the rest of the off leash area.

When we worked our way back to the car she was happy and skipping along like a happy puppy.

Lastly today I’m walking a new dog named Bogart (nick name Bugsy). I picked him up and to my surprise he had gotten a hair cut... A wicked awesome hair cut!! Bugsy was sporting a Mohawk!!

He looked so cute and quite different from his usually curly haired self. While on our walk up Yonge Street he received many compliments from passersby about his fashion forward doo. We took a nice stroll checking out the construction and made our way around the block to the lawn behind the dog park.

There we met up with Remi and Hazel. I finally got some picture of them! They had a good time checking out Bogie’s hair and playing around on the lawn.

Meet Remi and Hazel and check out Bogarts new Mohawk:

It was such a nice night to just hang out and visit! It was a busy night, while we were there Tea Cup came through with Bessie followed by Bently and Brady.

Well Bently totally hit it off with Bogart! They were sniffing each other up and checking each other out. This was nice because Bently usually doesn’t get that involved in the dogs.

Finally along came Jaida and Baby Charlie! So many doggies and so little time ;-)

Once we had our fill of playing we worked our way around to the front of the building to see the rest of the local doggies.

Everyone was admiring Bogart’s new doo, he was definitely the hit of the park.

It was a great day now we’re ready for a rest. Talk to everyone tomorrow.

Wednesday 9th

We had 3 walks today.

For the group walk we had Tea Cup, Jaida, Riley and Casey. I promised Tea Cup that we would take her somewhere fun for her second outing with the group.

We got everyone picked up and headed down to the Brick Works. It was a beautiful day out, no clouds and perfect weather.

We started out with the usual stroll around the park, checking the ponds for our nemesis the giant snapping turtle but instead we came across a Blue Heron!! It was very cool looking and really close to the bridge.

Check out the kids in action and our new bird friend:

There were TONES of grass hoppers out today it was crazy no matter where you step they were jumping out of the way and into the grass. The dogs were loving it!!!

While we were going around we ran into two really big dogs, one mix and the other was a Rottweiler, well I was walking ahead and looked back to see if the rest of the group was coming and there was Jaida... laying on her back with her legs in the air and the two big dogs were sniffing her up. She does LOVE her big dogs doesn’t she ;-)

Once we made our way around the park we headed to the off leash area. It was rather busy today with lots of dog walkers coming in and out with their packs. Jaida was off (as usual) with another group bouncing around the park and saying hello to the big doggies.

Riley and Casey stuck near me but also had fun jumping around on the logs and rocks in the park.

Tea Cup, well Tea Cup was extremely shy around the other dogs. I can understand that it was a bit overwhelming with that many new dogs at one time. I kept her on a leash and we worked our way around the park. She would play when there weren’t too many dogs around then she would come back to me when she got nervous.

She will get used to it the more she goes to off leash parks and socializes with new dogs. We’ll take good care of her!

Next we picked up my girl Belle and we headed to the Belt Line. It was such a hot sunny day I needed to get out of the elements and get into the shade. Too much sun gives me headaches!!!! Yes office people, I can hear you playing violins for me ;-)

Well it was another beautiful day on the Belt Line, very quiet and peaceful. We ran into a couple packs of dogs out enjoying the trail as well as a couple crying babies. Belle took it all in stride and kept prancing along.

When we got to Oriole Park she saw Henry and Casey waiting for us and I let her bolt and go say hello. We’ve started doing this recently and she loves to get one last sprint in before hitting the road. Her mom requested a picture of Belle in the car so here you go... that is one happy puppy!!!!

Lastly today I met up with my old gal Diva for a stroll around the block (of course we stopped at Pet Cuisine). It’s great to end the day with her, she is such a great dog to walk, very mellow and happy to be out in the sunshine.

Have a great night everyone and talk to you tomorrow.

Thursday 10th

Today we had 2 walks which was great, Casey needed a bit of a break.

Our first walk included Jaida, Riley, Sake and Casey. We went to Sherwood Park to run around in the woods. This was Sake’s first time at that park and I was sure he was going to love it.

We let Casey run off leash for about 5 minutes then she ran off into the bushes. When she returned, she was on leash arrest for the rest of the walk. The other 3 were so good, they played together and walked together, they were so well behaved.

It was quiet in the park today, not many other dogs but the ones we did run into, the group welcomed and chased them around with so much excitement.

Sake enjoyed sniffing everything along the trails, bouncing along happy to be out enjoying the sunshine.

Riley chased Jaida around the park with Sake at his side. The two of them had a great time trying to catch her as she ran by.

When we were done we were walking out and the little water park (sprinkler park) was still working. Since there were no kids around THANK GOD we had some fun!

We ran around the splash pad running through the sprinklers and chasing water drops. It was very refreshing and a great way to end the walk. Everyone was good and tuckered out when we dropped them off.

My next walk was with the lovely and talented Diva. Casey came with me and we had a great stroll around the area. Of course we ended up and Pet Cuisine and got a couple treats for the evening. We also caught up with some dogs that we don’t see that often, it was a beautiful evening to play catch up.

Once we dropped Diva off we were done for the evening. It was a great day and we’ll talk to everyone tomorrow.

Friday 11th

Today we had 2 walks then we were taking care of the lovely and talented Diva for the evening.

For our group walk we had Jaida, Tea Cup, Riley and Casey. We went to Sunnybrook to do some running and socializing. We also had Henry’s friend Marissa along for the ride to see the kids in action.

When we got to the park Jaida was off to do her visiting (of course), riley was more reserved and stuck by Casey. Tea Cup was very nervous so she stuck by me on leash for the duration of the outing.

Jaida instantly entrenched herself into a group of dogs and had fun running around and chasing each other around. Skye a big collie from our area, she is a huge version of Jaida and we spent a lot of time with his pack of dogs visiting and playing.

Riley made friends with a dog who generally does not socialize with other dogs. This seems to be a trend for Riley, he attracts the dogs who are more quiet.

Casey did he own thing bouncing between me and Henry & Marissa visiting all the dogs along the way.

Tea Cup and I walked around the park visiting different groups of dogs working on her socialization and comfort level. She was very brave and was a very good girl. She didn’t make any friends but didn’t lose her mind either. I was very proud of her she did a great job today.

It was a perfect day to be at the park the weather was great and the dogs were all in a great mood, we had a good time as usual.

For my walk with Belle, I decided to go back to Sunnybrook. She always has a great time at Sunnybrook. It was quiet in the park by the time we got there, just enough dogs to have fun but not too many to be really crazy.

Belle was really reserved today and spent a lot of time running around the outside of the circle watching what everyone was doing. We spent a good portion of our visit walking around the park letting Belle run around and act silly. She found a couple dogs who wandered away from the main pack to chase around for a bit and was very happy to meet them.

By the time we were finished she was good and tired and ready to go home and relax. I love going to the park with her, she is so much fun and such a good girl.

Next we picked up the lovely and talented Diva to come over for a slumber party with Casey. She did not want to stray from her usual walking route to come to my house. We had a really interesting walk, Casey pulling me and Diva dragging behind. After a nice slow stroll we finally got home and got her settled.

We had a good night watching movies and having a girls evening in.

It was a great day and this weekend is going to be a VERY relaxing weekend which is going to be a welcome change.

Weekend 12th, 13th

We had a quiet weekend which was nice.

We started out with only 1 walk on Saturday and by the end of the day we had 3.

First I picked up Belle for an early evening romp at Sunnybrook. Casey came with us, Belle had a great time chasing her around and playing with her. I’ve even discovered that Belle likes to chase sticks! We played some good games of fetch.

There weren’t too many dogs in the park which was good but it wasn’t great for Bellie. She didn’t find anyone she wanted to latch onto and chase around. She is very particular in who she chases ;-)

Next I met up with a new pack member named Bobby, a super cute Cocker Spaniel that I am starting to walk. We went on a nice stroll around the block getting to know each other. It was just a short walk but I’m spending more time with him on Wednesday so we’ll learn more about each other at that time.

It was such a beautiful evening, I was happy to be outside.

Lastly Casey and I went to visit a dog we have not seen in weeks, Radar the black lab. He needed a good night pee break so we took him for a stroll around the block. It was still beautiful out, Yonge Street was busy as well so it was nice to see everyone coming and going.

I hope I will be seeing him again soon; he is a really funny do with a great sense of humour! He makes me laugh and it’s nice to have a dog like that around.

Sunday I had THE ENTIRE DAY OFF so I took advantage of it.

Talk to everyone next week.
